4/27/06 - Went to a concert by the Rock Bottom Remainders at the Paramount Theater in Denver and attended the VIP reception where not only did I meet AMY TAN but also some really cool people and fellow writers! The concert included some wild performances by Amy Tan (in a platinum blond wig), Scott Turow (in numerous colorful wigs and outfits), Dave Barry, Greg Iles, and several others! Some day I hope to be up on the stage, singing back-up vocals! | |
4/22/06 - Received the 1ST PLACE award in the Creative Nonfiction category for the 2006 Paul Gillette Memorial Writing Contest. This is my 5th year attending the conference, which I highly recommend for its excellent faculty, awesome staff, and wonderful attendees. I pitched the book to Stacey Creamer at Doubleday and Broadway Books, who asked me to send the whole thing!
