Dolly met Juan "Ropo" Trogani at a dance or "tea social" in Liverpool, England. Ropo was a merchant marine, working for the White Star Line. To learn more about Ropo and his life as a merchant marine, click HERE.

Dolly and Ropo had nine children: Dorothy (Tillie) born in Liverpool; Juan Jr. (Johnny), Martino (Martin), Alfred (Alfie), and Lawrence (Lolly) all born in Newark, New Jersey; Florence (Cookie), Henry (Hank), and Stanley (Stosh) all born in the Philippine Islands, and Joseph (Joey) also born in Newark, New Jersey. In 1936, Ropo relocated his family from Newark, New Jersey to Tigbauan, Iloilo, as part of the Filipino Repatriation Act.
